Apocalypticrazy!

Last week Apocalyptica finally released the album Worlds Collide in the United States. I’ve had a European copy since last September. Unlike my usual m.o., I did not pick up a copy of the U.S. release. There was, I thought, no new material. I was wrong. The reason the U.S. release was delayed so long was so they could re-record “I Don’t Care” featuring Adam Gontier of 3 Days Grace. Long time WooJew fans will recall that we played this song way back in episode 6.
I heard the new version today, and I like it. It’s punchier than the original and has alot more drumming. The lyrics themselves have changed a bit as well. I’m gonna end up buying a copy of the “I Don’t Care” single, or the U.S. Worlds Collide (whichever is cheaper) so I can get the new version. Here’s the video for it, and this features the new U.S. mix of the song.
I Don’t Care

Bittersweet

I picked up a different Apocalyptica CD this morning, however. Yesterday Universal Records domestically released the 2006 best of compilation, Amplified: A Decade Of Reinventing The Cello. It’s a 2 disc set with one disc dedicated to instrumentals and one to vocal cuts. I have roughly half of the tracks already, but the new ones made it totally worth it. On the instrumental side are many Metallica covers, including Enter Sandman, One, Nothing Else Matters and Master Of Puppets. Over on the vocal side are my favorite songs of the bunch. Repressed is a new track that features vocalists from Sepultura and Bullet For My Valentine. I was really surprised with how much I like this track.  Among my favorites on this disc are Life Burns featuring Lauri Ylonen of the Rasmus, and Bittersweet featuring Lauri and Ville Valo. Bittersweet was the song that got me into Apocalyptica, and it’s nice to have it on here. If you’re new to Apocalyptica, check out this set or Worlds Collide. You won’t be disapointed.

“I’m Not Jesus” featuring Corey Taylor will be on WooJew The Music: Volume 1. E-Mail your name and address to matt@woojew.com to request a copy. CDs will ship in May.
